Britain’s Top Security Threats in 2019

2018 was a year dominated by a new range of worries for national security experts in Britain.  Brexit and a series of untraditional statements from U.S. President Donald Trump, kept things interesting, to say the least.  This, in addition to the traditional security issues that keep the British up at night, like terrorism, cyber attacks against government and the private sector, espionage and nationalist violence.

The British Security Service MI5, keeps an ongoing list of threat levels that it shares with the public to track the likelihood of threats, particularly from terrorists.  

Cipher Brief Expert and former Senior Member of the British Foreign Office, Nick Fishwick, laid out the issues that he sees as most concerning for the British in 2019.  Here’s his exclusive brief for TCB members:
